- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 14 oz can evaporated milk (or 1-1/2 cups water and 2/3 cup powdered milk)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- Mix well sugar, milk, salt, cocoa powder, butter, and cornstarch.
- Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
- Stir in vanilla.
(Granny’s Note: For a thinner syrup, omit the cornstarch. This is good for ice cream. Serve warm or cold. If too thick, stir in warm water.)
