Oatmeal Cookies

  • 1 cup margarine, room temperature
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups oats (quick or old-fashioned)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 cup raisins

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Cream margarine, sugars, wheat germ, and eggs. Add flour, oats, soda, salt, and spices. Blend well.
  3. Mix in nuts and raisins.
  4. Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheet.
  5. Bake about 10 to 12 minutes.

(Granny’s Note: Or you can leave out cinnamon, nutmeg, and raisins, and add 1 cup of chocolate chips.)
