- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 1 cup all-purpose flour (plus extra)
- 2 sticks butter
- 1-1/2 cups buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 F.
- Put self-rising flour into bowl.
- Slice butter into flour.
- Stir in buttermilk.
- Add additional all-purpose flour as needed to make a very soft dough that can be handled.
- Transfer dough to board sprinkled with all-purpose flour; knead a few times.
- Pat to 1/2 inch thick, and cut into circles.
- Place on oiled or greased cookie sheet.
- Bake until browned.
