- 2 hamburger buns
- 1 small red onion, chopped
- 2 plum tomatoes, chopped
- 3/4 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup dill pickles, diced
- 3/4 cup catsup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 8 cups lettuce, chopped
- 1 cup (4 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 425 F.
- Cut buns into 1/4-inch strips or cubes. Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- Cook ground beef. Add 1/2 of onion and 1/2 or tomatoes, pickles, catsup, and mustard. Mix well.
- To Serve:
- Arrange lettuce on plates.
- Top with beef mixture, then reserved tomato and onion.
- Sprinkle with cheese, and serve croutons on side.
