Split Pea Soup

  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 lb dried split peas
  • 1 cup cubed cooked ham (or a ham bone)
  • Salt and pepper to taste


  1. Saute onion in oil in large pot until tender.
  2. Add all other ingredients.
  3. Bring to boil, reduce heat.
  4. Cover and simmer about 1 hour until peas are tender.
