Mobile App, Anyone?

You may or may not be surprised to learn that I earn my living by developing software. For the last year or two, I’ve been considering developing a mobile app for the site, but doing so represents a considerable investment of time. As such, I thought it might be prudent to ask if a mobile app is something you all would be interested in.

Why a mobile app?

As it stands, you can access the recipes I’ve provided, but you can’t really interact with them. Have you ever found a recipe on whatever site and decided to do things a little differently, but when you made it the next time, you can’t remember exactly what you did? Or wouldn’t it be nice to be able to save a recipe so you don’t have to do a google search every time you want to make it?

These are some of the things I think would be enjoyable about an app. Even my family doesn’t use anywhere close to all of the recipes that Granny gave us, so having the ability to only look through what I/we like would be nice. And if I do that recipe differently, I would like to be able to change the recipe so I know how I did it without having to rely on my (increasingly unreliable) memory.

Queue the app. When you find a recipe you like, you click a button to add it to your favorites. Once there, it becomes fully editable, so you can just annotate the changes. Not an recipe? No problem. You give the app the web address, and it will pull the page into your favorites, and it becomes an editable recipe in your favorites just like the others.

So… Yes or no?

Does this sound like something you’d be interested in? Please leave a comment below with your thoughts.
